Ainhoa Sevillano-Paton
Head of Client Assets Risk & Compliance at Aviva Investors

I am a fully qualified Barrister by background, albeit most of my working experience is within Banking. For the last 15 years, I have worked in Financial Services. During that time, I have held various senior roles in Industry, but also at the Big 4. My areas of expertise are within Operations, Risk and Compliance.

As an indicator, I led the Investments & Tax department for the UK Business at one of the major banks in the world and drove the business transformation and alignment to the new CASS rules post PS14/9. I have been a member of the CASS Office of a Top Tier 1 Bank in the UK, Head of EMEA Client Assets Risk for the major custodian in the world and I am now the Head of Client Assets Compliance at Aviva, one of the largest asset managers in the UK.

Working in various locations across Europe, such as Spain, Germany and the UK, has enabled me to have great exposure not only to the UK CASS regime, but also to a wider range of Client Assets Safety Protection regulations and its local regulators, such as the National Bank of Belgium(NBB), the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI), Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) and the Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht (BaFIN).

Throughout my career I have conducted several CASS reviews, including among others CASS RP retrieval tests and gap analysis, end-to-end process flow mapping, CMAR health-check assessments and CASS training to senior management as well as thematic CASS reviews with specific focus on Culture, Governance, Client Money, Safety of Custody Assets, Mandates and Collateral Management.
