Nissanka is passionate about capturing the possibilities emerging from the intersection of emerging technologies, human-centric design and societal changes as a digital transformation executive to build future financial services. He has authored close to 50 LinkedIn articles on innovation strategies and collaborates with thought leaders, startups and fintech hubs to bring startup innovation thinking to large traditional organisations to push the boundaries of established cultures and processes.

He has co-designed and launched a fintech product in 2017 for group operations of Westpac Bank to bring about an end-to-end digital experience to save on massive call centre costs with chatbot and cognitive automation technologies and had the opportunity to lead a portfolio of industry-leading digital transformation programs to develop a mobile payment product (2013-14), digital ID service (2015-16), digitalising offshore operations (2016-17) and a digital banking experience to convert paper statements to e-statements (2017-18).

Nissanka counts over 15 years of consulting and senior leadership experience in developing innovation strategies and high performing teams to execute organisational change for digital transformation programs as a banking sector CIO and a senior leader at IBM and has completed executive education programs at MIT and Oxford University on fintech innovation and strategy.
