Micha RentierHead of Technology Lab at ABN AMRO
In his 20 years at ABN AMRO, Micha started out as an Account Manager SME, specialised in startups. After being involved in the Year 2000 project ensuring systems used in the branches kept working after the millennium change, he was one of the project members for introducing the EURO in the branches in the Rotterdam area. After that he became a Bankshop Manager, piloting a new way of working, including new HTML based software. In this function, he was deeply involved with the project team from head-office, assessing and improving the new systems.
After a year, he moved to the head office and started his career in IT. He was involved in three major overhauls of Internet Banking and two versions of the Mobile Banking App. During these years, he set up and headed the Internet Banking Release Management program. At the end of this period, he successfully headed a team responsible for thinking out and implementing the new architecture for Internet Banking and Mobile banking, a three layered approach of Front-End, Service Layer and Back-end.
For the last three years he has been responsible for the Technology Lab within IT, where he Explores new technologies and trends, Experiments with them and bringing potentially interesting ones further within the bank. Major examples are the ABN AMRO Chatbot, several IoT solutions for employee use, serious gaming POCs and currently investigating a.o. Quantum Computing and Human Machine Interfacing.
