CEO of Vanguard Asia, Chairman of Vanguard Investment Management (Shanghai) Limited
Charles Lin, CEO of Vanguard Asia and Chairman of Vanguard Investment Management (Shanghai) Limited, is responsible for all of Vanguard’s Asia ex-Japan businesses, overseeing Vanguard’s offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Shanghai, which provide products and services for institutional, intermediary, and retail clients across China, Korea and Southeast Asia. He also sits on International Leadership Team, the steering committee responsible for Vanguard’s non-US business.
Charles has been instrumental in the growth and expansion of Vanguard’s business in Greater China since he joined Vanguard in 2011, and has held various leadership positions in Hong Kong including Head of Distribution in Asia, Country Head for Hong Kong and China.
Prior to joining Vanguard, he was the Head of Greater China for Brazil's Itau Asia Securities based in Hong Kong, responsible for developing their equity and fixed income trading business with central banks, sovereign wealth funds, pension and insurance companies. Previously, he worked for Deutsche Asset Management to develop its QDII business in China.
Charles has been devoted to promoting the industry’s development in China. He currently serves as the Co-chairman for the International Partners Committee of the Asset Management Association of China; he is a board member of the Asia Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association (ASIFMA), as well as the Vice President of ASIFMA's Asset Management Committee and the Co-chairman of its China Capital Market Committee. Moreover, Charles is also the committee member of ICI Global Pacific Policy Counsel.
Charles holds a BA from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. He also studied at the Kellogg School of Management in Northwestern University and Harvard Business School.
