John BruenSenior Managing Director (MIRA), Head of Transport Europe at Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (Europe)
John leads the transport sector team for MIRA in Europe and is heavily involved in the acquisition, divestment and management of the growing portfolio of transport assets in the Macquarie European Infrastructure Funds. In addition to leading the 2014 acquisition of AGS Airports (Glasgow Airport, Aberdeen Airport and Southampton Airports in the UK) and the 2018 acquisition of the HES International ports group based in the Netherlands, John also led the sale of Bristol Airport (2014), Copenhagen Airport (2017) and the APRR motorway group (2017). John is currently a director of AGS Airports, Brussels Airport, Copenhagen Airport and Macquarie Autoroutes France. He is a member of the European Management Committee of MIRA Europe.
John joined MIRA in 2013, having previously spent eight years at Ferrovial, one of the world’s leading infrastructure investors, as Corporate Development Director. While at Ferrovial, John led a number of major M&A transactions, including the acquisition of BAA plc, and subsequently BAA’s non-core asset divestment programme in the UK. In total, John oversaw asset sales in excess of £8.5 billion including Stansted, Gatwick and Edinburgh Airports in the UK, as well as BAA international and non-airport assets. Prior to joining Ferrovial, he was a director at RBC Capital Markets in London.
