J.R. is Assistant General Counsel for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, where he focuses on investment transactions as well as acting as the chief litigation counsel for the trust. Prior to joining TRS, he spent a decade in private practice as both an associate and partner of several large law firms as well as having started his own investment management boutique. J.R. received his J.D. from UCLA School of Law and is admitted to practice in Texas, New York and England and Wales.
