Phillip is a Partner at New Media Ventures where he specializes in seed-stage investing into mission-driven startups and mentoring companies on their journey to scale. As a member of the firm’s executive team, Phil spearheads new partnerships and initiatives as well as serves as the in-house expert on financial diligence and modeling. Before joining NMV, Phil served in a variety of roles at Ernst & Young and Rockwood Capital, managing financial duties for clients across technology, real estate, and venture capital. He was a Fellow at Kapor Capital and an Investment Accounting Manager at the Kapor Center. Over the course of his career, he’s advised over a hundred startup companies, helped launch a venture studio, and directly invested in 20+ early stage companies.

A current Oakland resident, Phil is the immediate past Board Chair of the Ella Baker Center and holds a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from Bethune-Cookman University.
