Rohinton H Mewawala, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, has been associated with Stock Holding Corporation of India Ltd. (StockHolding) since its inception in 1988 and has handled diverse portfolios from Operations to Business-Development and Information-Technology. He has played a key role in almost all of StockHolding’s initiatives and has been the driving force in conceptualising and operationalising the first online Post trading and Custody system in India. He was a member of the core team, which worked with FIRE Project funded by the USAID for the implementation of Depository system in India. The team adapted the depository module to the Indian context, facilitated the enactment of Depository Act by the Government of India, and created awareness of the system amongst the bureaucrats, brokers, companies and general public. He was also a member of the Project Team which crystallized the e-Stamping project in consultation with M/s CrimsonLogic Pte Ltd., Singapore, an organization, which was the first to develop, implement an e-Stamping project in the world. The system is in operation in India for the last eleven years. Throughout his career, he has actively mentored and driven his teams to change and adopt new technologies so as to improve the quality of service being offered by StockHolding to its clients. It was under his leadership that StockHolding opted for and achieved the ISO 27001:2013 certification for its Data Center. He currently looks after the Custody business including e-Stamping, Information technology, Administration, Estates and New Initiatives.
He is a holder of Bachelor’s degree in Science from Bombay University and is an Alumni of Stanford University, USA. He has previously worked at M/s. Tata Share Registry (TSRL) where he computerised the entire share department works for TSRL and made it into an online system, which was the first online share accounting system in Asia and served as a reference for other RTA in the industry.
