Kenny Lam is currently Group President of Noah Holdings Limited (NYSE: Noah).
Noah is China’s largest independent wealth manager and the first one listed on New York Stock Exchange. It currently serves over 150,000 high net worth individuals and over 450,000 affluent clients, with 1,251 relationship managers in 199 branches across 74 cities in China. Noah has advised on over USD 75 billion of assets for high network individuals and enterprises in China and overseas. Noah has recently been named by Asian Private Banker Magazine as China’s Best Wealth Manager, ranked by Forbes Magazine as the world’s 5th fastest growing US listed company and China’s No. 1.
Kenny oversees all of Noah’s management and operations and is responsible for driving all key strategic initiatives in both China and overseas. Noah’s services cover alternative investments, mutual funds, insurance and education. It is China’s first wealth manager to globalize, with full licenses to operate in Hong Kong, and operations in Taiwan and the U.S. In 2015, its overseas operations have grown five‐fold with over USD 2.5 billion in new investments. In August 2014, it opened China’s first on‐line private banking and has since transacted over USD 4.1 billion of investments through this new internet channel.
Prior to Noah, Kenny was a Global Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company based in Hong Kong, a co‐Leader of its Asia Financial Institution Practice, and Head of Asia Private Banking and Asset Management Practice. For 15 years, he has led transformational programs for leading financial institutions across China, India, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea and Japan on a wide range of strategic, financial and operational topics and was McKinsey's expert on private banking and wealth management.
Kenny has also worked with governments and regulators on private banking strategy in the key offshore hubs of Asia. He was one of the key architects behind the creation of the Private Wealth Management Association in Hong Kong, having worked closely with industry practitioners and the city’s regulators (SFC and HKMA).
Before McKinsey, he was with American law firm Shearman & Sterling in New York and Hong Kong, counseling multinational corporations in various M&A transactions and NYSE/Nasdaq public offerings.
Kenny graduated with a MA (Honours) in Law from Oxford University and magna cum laude with a BS in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Joseph Wharton Scholar and a Benjamin Franklin Scholar.
He has been frequently interviewed by global and local media, including Bloomberg, CNN and Financial Times and a featured speaker in numerous global financial conferences.
