Debbie Brackeen is chief strategy and innovation officer for CSAA Insurance Group. With more than 100 years of experience serving AAA members, CSAA Insurance Group offers automobile, homeowners and other personal lines of insurance to AAA members through AAA clubs. CSAA Insurance Group has been rated A or better by A.M. Best for 90 years, and is one of the top property and casualty personal lines insurers in the United States. Ms. Brackeen leads the company's new organization for strategy, partnerships, innovation and venture investing. She also supports the company’s transformational efforts to meet the evolving needs of AAA members, which includes creating new products for the connected home and sharing economy.
Ms. Brackeen has more than 25 years of experience and leadership at innovative high-tech companies, including Apple, Sun, Cadence Design Systems, Lutris Technologies, Synchron Networks and eBay. Her depth of experience in business development, strategy and alliance-management is enhanced by longtime connections to the venture capital and startup communities in Silicon Valley.
In 2004, she joined HP as senior director of global alliances and business development, and, in 2007, was promoted to vice president of corporate ventures. In 2011, Citigroup invited her to lead new business incubation, and, in 2013, made her global head of innovation.
Ms. Brackeen holds a bachelor’s degree in American studies from Stanford University. She has completed executive programs at the Northwestern Kellogg School of Management, INSEAD, and the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Ms. Brackeen is the current director and past chair of the Silicon Valley Forum Board of Directors. She has served as an adviser to the Astia Technology Committee since 2008, and was an adviser on the corporate board of the National Venture Capital Association from 2008 to 2009.
