Dominique BourratBoard Member, ESG Strategic Senior Advisor at BDISpeaker
Profile
Dominique is currently active in driving the financial market to become instrumental in the ESG space, leveraging her in-depth financial, risk management and business experience.
As an academic, during her PhD in Nuclear Physics, she developed quantum physics mathematical models for the CERN in Geneva. After enriching her skills at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, Dominique was first hired by BNPP to work in their dealing rooms building risk management and hedging models in the derivatives. A few years later, she was recruited by MasterCard International to set up and manage their European Risk and Fraud Management Centre based on innovative neural network technology from Brown University in Boston. She then embarked as Director of Risk Analytics for a large international bank/insurance player where she was the principal interface with regulators and supervisors for overall compliance with Basel and Solvency regulations.
With that acquired experience and network, she founded the consulting firm Risk Dynamics which quickly became the international reference in the model validation space, serving banks, insurance and asset management institutions globally. She sold Risk Dynamics to McKinsey & Co in 2016. After a successful handover, she was proposed the position of Board Member and Chairman of the Risk Committee of a large insurance company where ESG debates quickly became instrumental.
Today, she is keen to leverage her knowledge and experience to contribute to a much greater sustainable environment and society to live in. She cooperates with financial players, regulators, scientists, non-profit associations among others with the aim of re-directing innovation as well as financial flows towards making ESG a reality. She is a member of various think-tanks and speaker at many international conferences focusing on financial and climate/environmental issues.
