In recent years, the banking risk landscape has changed considerably: macro trends such as the pandemic, geopolitics, climate and technological advancements have had a profound impact on banks' financial risk profiles. When combined with the emergence of platform providers and other new entrants disrupting the value chain, this is a challenging cocktail for financial institutions globally.
CROs need to ensure that they have the right tools and mechanisms in place to identify, assess, and mitigate this new risk environment and that they provide clear guidance and advice to other internal and external stakeholders. Against these headwinds, banks are working on upgrading their early-warning systems with more real time information, and trying to better leverage both internal and external data sources.
