Bruce was the Chief Risk Officer for NatWest Group and NatWest Holdings. He was responsible for leading the Risk function, and for defining and overseeing the risk, compliance and conduct policies, frameworks, and strategies for the Group. He also shared responsibility for managing the risks of climate change with the Group CEO.

Bruce is also involved in a number of industry activities. He is the Vice Chairman of the Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA), which is a non-profit professional association operating with chapters in 46 cities around the world. He Chairs the Financial and Risk Policy Committee of UK Finance, and represents the Group on the Bank of England’s Climate Financial Risk Forum and their Cross Market Operational Resilience Group, and serves as a member of the Prudential Regulatory Authority Practitioner Panel.

Over a nearly 40 year career Bruce has worked internationally in a range of commercial and retail banking businesses, specialising in Risk Management. Prior to his current role, Bruce served as a Group General Manager at HSBC, where he was the Chief Risk Officer for the Global Retail Banking and Wealth Management Business. He previously served as their Chief Risk Officer for Europe, and spent 17 years with Citibank.
