Derek Nesbitt is a Senior Advisor in the Prudential Policy Directorate of the Bank of England. Derek also represents the Prudential Regulation Authority on the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision’s (BCBS) Policy and Standards Group. He chaired the BCBS Market Risk Group between 2016 and 2022 - the period when it finalised the Basel III market risk and CVA risk standards.
Derek joined the FSA in 2010, transitioning to the PRA when it was formed, and has held various roles in Prudential Policy and Supervision. Prior to joining the FSA he worked in consulting for a variety of firms, supporting financial sector clients on complex valuation and risk management projects. He graduated from Warwick University and started his career training as a Chartered Accountant at Deloitte.
