Hitoshi Mio Head of International Division at Bank of Japan


Hitoshi is the Head of International Division at the Bank of Japan.  His Division is responsible for setting the Bank's strategy on international banking regulation.  
Prior to his current role, Hitoshi was a senior manager of on-site bank examination teams, where he closely examined systemically important banks' stress-testing exercises as well as their recovery plans.  He also led the Bank of Japan's programme direction team for its macro stress-testing exercises.  Internationally, he served as a member of the Advisory Committee of the IMF-LSE symposium on macrorprudential stress tests and policies.

Hitoshi joined the Bank of Japan in 1996.  In previous roles he has worked in Monetary Analysis and Statistics.  Between 2012 and 2014, he was a secondee at the Bank of England's Prudential Policy Directorate, where he focused on developing the Bank's liquidity policies.
