Jacques Longerstaey Chief Investment Risk Officer, Wealth and Investment Management at Wells Fargo


Jacques Longerstaey is responsible for setting risk-based policies, procedures, and processes for portfolio management and multi-asset class fund portfolios, including equity, fixed income, and alternative investment platforms. He also works proactively with portfolio management teams to identify risk and perform analysis of risk issues related to portfolios and strategies.

A financial services veteran with more than 25 years in the industry, Mr. Longerstaey joined Wells Fargo in 2013 after serving as senior vice president and member of the Investment Committee at F-Squared Investments. He was the chief risk officer at State Street Global Advisors in Boston from 2008 to 2012. Previously, he was managing director and head of risk management and portfolio analysis at Putnam Investments and was managing director and co-head of risk management at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in New York and London. Mr. Longerstaey also served in various functions at J.P. Morgan between 1987 and 1998, including creating the RiskMetrics Value-at-Risk tools.

Mr. Longerstaey holds degrees from the Inter-University Center for Financial Analysis in Brussels and the Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium. He is a member of GARP, the Global Association of Risk Professionals, serving on the board and the executive committee.  His native language is French, and he is fluent in English and Dutch.
