Michael Johnson joined the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in June 2018 on a 12 month rotation as Acting Deputy Director in the Division of Supervision & Regulation. In this role, he oversees programs for large, regional, community, and foreign bank supervision, as well as risk and surveillance functions, and performance, planning and operational activities. Mike is an executive vice president in the Supervision and Regulation division of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, responsible for overseeing the Sixth District's supervision of state member banks, bank and financial holding companies, and U.S. branches and agencies of foreign banking operations.
Mike has spent his entire career with the Federal Reserve System and served in a number of leadership roles within banking supervision including executive vice president at the Atlanta Fed and vice president and managing director of the large institutions group at the San Francisco Fed. He began his career at the Dallas Fed, where he spent 10 years in bank supervision.
At the Federal Reserve System level, Mike currently serves on the Supervision Committee and as co-chair for the Subcommittee for Supervision Planning and Performance (SP2). Prior to that, he served as co-chair of the Large Foreign Banking Organization Management Group and the Consumer Compliance Management Group.
