Joanne Yoo is a senior executive at Development Partners International (DPI), a leading Pan African private equity firm with $1.1 billion under management. Prior to DPI, Ms. Yoo was most recently a Managing Director and Partner with CBO Investment Management, a West Africa focused private equity firm based in Lagos, Nigeria. Ms. Yoo was previously the Managing Director and a co-founder of Watermark Alternative Investment Management, a private investment firm based in New York. Prior to Watermark, Ms. Yoo served as a Senior Investment Officer for the New York Common Retirement Fund (CRF), the third-largest public fund in the United States with approximately $180 billion under management. She began her career in the Financial Institutions Group at Salomon Smith Barney (now Citigroup).
Ms. Yoo is Co-Founder of the Africa Alternative Investment Intensive; Co-Founder of the Council of Urban Professionals; and Co-Founder of the Private Equity Women Investor Network (PEWIN). She is an Advisor to the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity Alternative Investment Program and serving on the Advisory Council of the National Philanthropic Trust UK (NPT-UK).
Ms. Yoo received a B.S. in Commerce with concentrations in Finance and International Business from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia; a Master’s in Public Administration from the Kennedy School at Harvard University; and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School, where she was awarded a Morgan Stanley Fellowship.
