Mark is an experienced (fund) manager, investor and entrepreneur. After a year of consulting on tropical biology and agriculture in Costa Rica, he became an entrepreneur working on business development and financing of early stage social and green start-ups. In 2001 he launched Money Meets Ideas (MMI), linking sustainable start-ups with private investors. In 2003 MMI was sold to Rabobank. In 2006 Mark joined the board of renewable energy consultant Ecofys. In 2012 he moved to ICCO Cooperation as Investment Director. He developed the strategy, business plan and arranged the initial funding for the Capital 4 Development Fund, and established fund manager C4D Partners. In 2018 C4D Partners became independent through a management buyout and in that same year the first closing of the C4D Asia Fund was achieved. The C4D Asia Fund is a 50m USD fund focusing on direct SME investments in India, Philippines and Indonesia.
