Manuel has been CEO of TIIC and a board member of the general partner of Fund 1, as well as a member of Fund 1’s investment committee, since inception of the business. He is responsible for leading the investment activities of TIIC and the general development of the firm. Manuel was the lead architect of the initiative to create TIIC, being co-responsible alongside with Brisa and Edmond de Rothschild Group for the launching of Fund 1. He was deeply involved in the initial strategic planning and structuring, which included the definition of TIIC’s investment strategy, hiring key personnel and coordination of the structuring and fundraising process. He sourced a significant number of deals for Fund 1 and led or co-led the 6 investments of Fund 1.
Before joining TIIC, Manuel was Executive Board Member at Millennium Investment Banking, responsible for the origination teams in investment banking. Prior to that, Manuel was an executive member of the Board of Banco Mello de Investimento, with responsibility for Corporate Banking, Corporate Finance and Project Finance in this investment bank.
In these positions, Manuel led almost every deal in the very substantial infrastructure privatization program carried out by the Portuguese government in transport and social infrastructure during the nineties and early 2000’s. He has also solid track record acting both as debt arranger and adviser for a large number of infrastructure deals in the EMEA region.
Prior to that, Manuel served as Head of Capital Markets, Co-Head of Corporate Finance and Analyst at Banco Mello, he was involved in debt and equity capital markets transactions, as well as in several corporate finance deals (M&A, valuations and restructuring).
