Edi qualified as CFA while studying Economics and has been running third party funds since the age of 16. He was credit trained at Bankers Trust; an early entrant to the nascent UK buyout market, building on US LBO debt experience. He joined Hambros in 1986 where he established a series of buying funds and formulated and developed ‘buy and build’ strategy for value creation.
As Founder and CEO of Duke Street Capital he led a management buyout of Hambro European Ventures, to form Duke Street Capital European private equity business. He then went on to become Executive Chairman of Duchess debt funds; the first ever €1bn CLO which sold to Babson Capital.
As Group CEO of Pension Insurance Corporation, he founded one of the UK’s largest ever startups with £872m of capital. Due to the innovative business strategy to transform pension fund markets it became a market leader within 4 years. It now has £22bn of assets.
Over the course of his career, Edi has held the positions of: Chairman of the BVCA; Chairman of the UK Strategic Investment Advisory Board, shaping UK public sector pension policy; PwC
Entrepreneur of the Year (2014); Chairman of the London Pension Fund Authority and he is a former Special Economic Advisor to the Mayor of London (Boris Johnson).
