Managing Director, Global Head of Capital Partnering at General Atlantic
Graves Tompkins is a Managing Director and Global Head of Capital Partnering for General Atlantic. He chairs the firm’s Capital Committee and serves on the Human Resources Committee. Previously, he has worked on the Business Services, Healthcare, and Financial Services sector teams, and he currently serves on the board of directors of Oak Hill Advisors. Prior to joining General Atlantic in 2007, Graves worked in the Merchant Banking division at Goldman Sachs, where he focused on principal investments across a broad range of sectors, and as a Management Consultant at McKinsey & Company. He has been selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and as a Fellow in the Partnership for New York’s David Rockefeller Fellows Program.
Graves serves on the board of Summer Search New York, Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, WNET (New York Public Television), and the investment committee of the New York Public Library. He is the founding co-chair of the Alumni Council at Harvard’s Center for Public Leadership and a board member of the Harvard Business School Club of New York. Graves is a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum and a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and he was previously a David Rockefeller Fellow through the NYC Partnership.
Graves graduated magna cum laude with an A.B. from Princeton University. He earned an M.B.A. with high honors from Harvard Business School and an M.P.A. from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government
