Ravi Viswanathan is a veteran investor and innovator with more than 20 years of experience financing and scaling technology enterprises.
In 2018, he founded NewView Capital to address critical imbalances in the venture ecosystem caused by extended exit timelines. NewView Capital spun out of New Enterprise Associates to pioneer a new model of venture capital—one designed to drive sustainable growth for entrepreneurs, venture capital firms, and limited partners amidst these shifting market dynamics. As Managing Partner at NewView Capital, Ravi oversees new investments and a diverse portfolio of growth-stage technology companies.
Prior to launching NewView Capital, Ravi spent 15 years at New Enterprise Associates (NEA) where he co-led the Technology Venture Growth Equity investment practice. While at NEA, he managed investment in early- and growth-stage companies, including Acquia, Bloomreach, Boku (LON: BOKU), Braintree (acquired by Paypal), Cyence (acquired by Guidewire), Desire2Learn, Forter, GlobalLogic (acquired by Apax Partners), Heap Analytics, Mulesoft (acquired by Salesforce), Placester, Plaid, Reltio, TeleAtlas (acquired by Tomtom), Topia, and Vixs (TSX: VIXS). In 2016, his role at NEA expanded to include the responsibilities of Chief Operating Officer.
Before joining NEA, Ravi held investment and strategic consulting positions at Goldman Sachs and McKinsey & Co. He started his career as a scientist in research and development at Raychem. Ravi is on the board of Wharton Entrepreneurship and holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, a a PhD in chemical engineering from UC Santa Barbara, and a BS in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
