Doug Kimmelman Senior Partner at Energy Capital Partners


Mr. Kimmelman is Senior Partner and Founder of Energy Capital Partners, a private equity firm formed in 2005 to focus on infrastructure investments in North American power generation, midstream oil and gas, environmental infrastructure assets and related service businesses.

Energy Capital Partners has over $19.0 billion of capital commitments across private equity and credit vehicles with offices in New York, New Jersey, Houston and San Diego. The firm has owned as a control investor nearly 50,000 MWs of power generation capacity across over 150 individual facilities, including the recent Calpine acquisition.  ECP has also been active in the midstream sector having constructed or purchased over 2500 miles of gas and oil gathering pipeline systems in multiple shale basins. ECP has been the largest renewable investor in the U.S. having owned over 9,000 megawatts of renewable capacity across hydro, geothermal, utility scale wind and solar and residential solar assets.    In the environmental area, ECP currently owns a significant nuclear decommissioning business, a diverse portfolio of waste to energy assets, a battery recycling business and multiple businesses focused on reducing coal fired power plant emissions.

 Prior to the formation of Energy Capital, Mr. Kimmelman was a Partner of Goldman Sachs, having spent 22 years with the firm exclusively focused on electric and gas utility matters.

Mr. Kimmelman received a BA in Economics from Stanford University and an MBA from the Wharton School.
