John Crocker has spent most of his career focused on alternative investments as both a fiduciary and intermediary. Matinicus LLC is an independent advisory firm that works with fund managers and institutional and family office investors on asset gathering, asset strategy and asset advisory.
As a fiduciary, Mr. Crocker headed the DLJ Fund of Funds business (now a part of GCM Grosvenor) from its inception to over $8 billion in invested assets with committed capital to over 185 different fund managers. John was also a partner at Capital Z Investment Partners, a $2.5 billion private equity fund focused on providing cornerstone capital to new alternative investment manager franchises. More recently, he has advised family offices on targeted fund investments.
As an intermediary, John was a member of the private fund groups at Citi, Atlantic Pacific as well as establishing his own advisory firm. He also assisted on the recent spin-out of the investment team at Quintilles to form NovaQuest.
John is on the board of R3 Education, a for-profit medical school. He graduated from Harvard College, where he was a member of the varsity crew, and from Harvard Business School.
