Michael's professional experiences includes 28 years of cross-border tax practice. He began his career as a tax lawyer in leading international law firms. In 2013 he founded his own firm Schmidt Taxlaw. Michael advises his German and foreign clients in particular with respect to their various cross-border issues including estate planning and the corresponding corporate work.

Michael is double-qualified both as a lawyer and a certified tax adviser in Germany. He is a member of the German Bar Association, the Association of German Tax Consultants, the Certified Tax Lawyers’ Working Group of the German Bar Association, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the American Bar Association (ABA), the International Bar Association (IBA) and the International Fiscal Association (IFA).
