Lisa has a 25-year track record of financing businesses in emerging markets with a specific focus and passion for Africa. In her nineteen-year career at Standard Chartered Bank she was based in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
She held a number of senior roles in leveraged, structured trade and shipping finance and was Managing Director and Regional Head of Leveraged Finance, Africa & Middle East. Following her time at Standard Chartered bank, she joined Emerging Markets Asset Manager Gemcorp LLP as a Senior Originator.
Lisa is an advocate for female leadership in business. Whilst at Standard Chartered Bank, she was instrumental in the bank joining the 30% Club Southern Africa, she chaired the Corporate Finance Women’s Forum and created, led, and ultimately chaired the Senior Women in Africa forum. She has supported Pink Dynasty, a community interest company that provides mentoring and leadership coaching to talented young women from marginalized backgrounds, both as a board director and mentor. Lisa is able to provide practical advice and guidance to investees seeking to embrace the benefits of gender diverse and inclusive management structures.
Lisa recently led a risk management system design and implementation mandate for a $150 million catalytic grant program in West Africa for Betula. She also advises clients on restructuring and capital raising. Sectors include telecommunications and agricultural inputs.
